Ontario homeowners can still get a heat pump rebate in 2026 through the Home Renovation Savings program.
For an eligible cold-climate air-source heat pump, Enbridge Gas customers who heat with natural gas can receive $500 per ton, up to $2,000. Homes mainly heated with electricity, oil, propane or wood can receive $1,250 per ton, up to $7,500.

How Much Is the Ontario Heat Pump Rebate?
If you have seen articles metioning the $5,000 Canada Greener Homes Grant, that program is now closed. Ontario’s current heat pump incentive is offered through the Home Renovation Savings program.

- 2 ton: up to $1,000

Who Qualifies for the Ontario Heat Pump Rebate?
You do not need a home energy assessment for an eligible standalone heat pump upgrade. However, pre-approval is required before installation.
To qualify:
- You must own the home and be responsible for the heat pump purchase and installation.
- The rebate is for a first-time space-heating heat pump installation. Replacing an existing heat pump does not qualify.
- Your home must be heated mainly by Enbridge natural gas, electricity, oil, propane or wood.
- The heat pump must be an eligible model.
- The installation must be completed by a participating HVAC contractor.
If you already have a natural-gas furnace, you can keep it as backup and add a qualifying heat pump.
