Greener Home Grant 2023
Starting in January 2023, Enbridge and Canada’s Greener Home Grant will offer enhanced energy rebates. While some rebates have been discontinued, most rebate amounts have been increased, especially for Enbridge customers.
Certain HVAC rebates, such as those for furnaces, boilers, water heaters, and basement upgrades, will be discontinued as of 2023.1.1. Homeowners with open files and completed first audits can wait until January 1, 2023, to complete their final audit to qualify for the new incentives. Enbridge customers must complete final audits by April 30, 2023, to receive rebates for furnaces and tankless water heaters. Under the new program, homeowners are only required to complete one upgrade, and there will be no 120-day assessment rules.
Non-natural gas-heated homeowners will continue to receive the Greener Homes grant of $5600. To qualify, they must prove that they own their home and that it is their primary residence by providing a property tax bill and photo ID.
Natural gas-heated homeowners can receive a maximum of $10,600 in rebates, with enhanced incentives added to the existing rebate list. Homeowners who are in the process of switching to gas heating can also qualify for these rebates. To qualify, homeowners must provide a property tax bill showing ownership and a gas account at the time of audit.

However, multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) and co-ops do not qualify unless the MURB is three stories or less.
Who is eligible for Greener Homes Grant 2023
Enbridge is now offering a new Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program, which offers higher rebates to eligible applicants. There are three categories for applicants:
- Those who don’t use natural gas to heat their home will receive a $5600 rebate through the Greener Homes Grant
- Those who do use natural gas can receive up to $10,000 with new incentives and rebates
- Landlords who use natural gas to heat their property can also receive up to $10,000 in rebates.
To take advantage of HER+, the first step is to complete a home energy assessment through Enbridge, which can identify areas where your home needs work in terms of energy efficiency. You can receive up to $600 back through HER+ to cover the costs of this assessment.
If your energy assessment identifies windows and doors as needing work, you could qualify for a rebate for replacing them. With HER+, you can receive up to $325 for each new window or door to offset purchasing and installation costs.
